Purpose: To identify obstacles and generate solutions to support safe and successful housing development in Johnson City.

Process: Following the completion of a Housing Needs Assessment, JC Builds was convened to provide a three-pronged effort which includes:
- An 8-person task force, including representatives from the local Homebuilders Association, architects, housing developers, attorneys, and civil engineers, to provide honest feedback and recommendations to Johnson City officials.
- Bi-monthly public roundtables with local developers and contractors to discuss relevant city code and regulatory changes, housing trends, and outside factors influencing development, such as Hurricane Helene recovery.
- Targeted internal city process improvements to discuss best practices, review cross-departmental assessments, and maximize the city’s capability to provide quality customer service to housing developers.
Outcomes:
- Ongoing cooperative discussions between public officials and the private sector.
- Improvements to customer service for housing developers working with the city.
